Though Budapest is a Dianic witch, this volume relies on folk traditions garnered from her Hungarian family and a wide reading of Goddess lore from around the world. The chapter for each month includes a meditation on a Goddess (Anna, Kore, Demeter, Artemis, etc.) in the form of a speech/lecture as if spoken by the Goddess, followed by "Anna's Spells and Recipes"-- traditionalist spells with a very modern bent--, a sidebar with the properties of the month, and a calendar of Goddess and other religious celebrations from around the world. The last part of every chapter is a meditation by Budapest, some in the form of stories of her religious life, some in dialogues with the Goddess-- which some readers may find offensive, others comforting.
